Instrument Microphones

Instrument microphones are different from vocal microphones in that they respond differently to acoustic guitars, harmonica, flute, bass drum, saxophone and other string instruments. Each instruments frequency range and response is detected and recorded accordingly. As their name suggests they are tuned to respond to individual instruments and have the ability to isolate other sounds or instruments around them. This is truer for artists specifically playing tunes for a particular instrument.

Audix F9 Fusion Series is a pre-polarized condenser instrument microphone for stage and studio performances. It has a uniformly controlled cardioid polar pattern and a clear and perfect response in the higher frequency ranges. The F9 has a 16 mm pre-polarized capsule with a gold vapor diaphragm. It is specifically built to capture sounds from horns, acoustic guitars and electric guitars. Its small size and pivoting yoke gives it an edge with different instrument recording. Mechanical flexibility and studio quality acoustics are achieved through the ND468 NDYM. It has a neodymium-iron-boron magnetic structure. This provides a great signal versus noise reproduction performance. The neodymium-iron-boron magnetic structure along with the large diaphragm produces excellent studio quality performance. The hum coil in the ND468 NDYM also reduces hum interference present in most studio recordings from lighting and electrical sources.

EV's AcoustiDYM shock-mount system produces a unique vibration and works as a multiple stage device. The less frequencies produce a rear sound wave that cancels the diaphragm motion moving at high frequencies. The rubber mount reduces shock and isolates the device from shock while in motion. The super cardioid pattern creates greater rejection and isolation of sounds than cardioiod patterns. The N/D468 pop filters feature an acoustifoam filter to reduce noise from wind and background noise from vocals. These filters can be easily removed and cleaned for better performance.
